Burlington Lane, London, W4 3UN

020 8747 0031

We are a true comprehensive school and are proud of the diversity of our intake and the success of the school as a dynamic outward looking learning community. We are an improving school and realise that we have yet to reach our full potential. The examination results this year and over the last four years do, however, prove that we are making rapid progress in our journey to excellence. We are fortunate to have a body of students, staff, parents and governors focused on making Chiswick School an outstanding learning community. Our focus is on developing the whole child by providing a “holistic” learning experience designed to prepare students to take their place in a fast changing society. Academic performance is of course a vital part of this education but it is by no means the whole story; our emphasis on an Opening Minds Curriculum at KS3 and on developing Emotional Intelligence across the school demonstrates our commitment to enabling students to develop a range of skills, attributes and techniques that will serve them well later in life. As a specialist Technology College there is a strong focus on using our modern resources within an environment that supports and encourages students to realise their potential in all fields. We are working with a number of primary, business and community partners and constantly seek new opportunities to extend our work with external agencies. The website demonstrates the wide variety of opportunities offered at Chiswick School and how we ensure that students follow a suitable curriculum, allowing them to develop their individual talents and interests whilst developing personally and socially. Thank you for taking the time to look at our website. If this is your first visit to us, please make sure it is not your last! Our objective is to update and develop the website regularly to showcase just how we are working to allow students to achieve more than they first thought possible. We realise that every child possesses a unique set of strengths and developmental needs. Our duty is to challenge and support each student, providing opportunities for each individual to follow their own personalised path to success. As a successful Technology College and Trust school, working in partnership with a number of teacher training providers, we aim to constantly raise standards through ongoing assessment of the quality of teaching and learning, together with the provision of first class educational experiences and resources

Our students are consistently pushing the limits of their achievement. They enjoy their learning and their success. We provide a wide range of activities for our students and ensure that they experience learning in different contexts. In this way they are as well prepared as they can be for their future lives. We expect high standards of work and behaviour from all members of the school and firmly believe that every student is capable of doing well. A strong but caring ethos prevails in our school. Students are treated as individuals who have huge potential and whose achievements are recognised and celebrated. As a Maths and Computing Specialist College we are constantly looking to raise standards of achievement and develop further interest in these areas across the whole ability range. We are also using our expertise here to develop innovative approaches to the teaching and learning across the whole school. We are a still relatively young school; we opened as a new school in 1998. Our school has flourished in that time and proved its overwhelming popularity within the local community. We have already gained a reputation across West London for high academic and pastoral standards. Now through our international links we are reaching out to schools and communities around the world. We want our students to become global citizens, with the capacity and enthusiasm to make the world a better place for us all. At Key Stage 3 students follow the National Curriculum and study a range of subjects. Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum and to equip our students with the personal learning and thinking skills they will need in education, life and employment. Students study the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and ICT as well as Modern Languages, Humanities, Arts and Technology. Our unique Enrichment programme allows students to study subjects outside the National Curriculum such as Latin, Film Studies and Photography. Students are taught mostly in mixed attainment groups with setting in some subjects – Maths, Science and Modern Languages. Those students who are working below expected National Curriculum levels receive support with literacy and numeracy through our Intervention programme. High attaining students are part of our PHASE programme (Potentially High Achieving Students at Elthorne). At Key Stage 4 we offer a wide range of courses designed to meet the need of all our students. We aim to continue to equip students with the knowledge skills and qualities needed for education work and their future lives. Students study the core subjects of English, Maths, ICT and Science as well as RE and Citizenship. In addition they choose up to 4 subjects from a range of courses including traditional academic courses and practical vocational courses, some of which are offered through our local colleges. Triple Science is available for students who wish to specialise in the sciences. Some students choose to limit the number of examination courses and receive support with English and Maths as well as following an ASDAN course in Life skills. All courses are designed with progression into Key Stage 5 in mind, in particular BTECs and the A Level Programme. The current school was opened in September 1998 with just one year group, Year 7. Over the next few years we grew steadily, one year group at a time. By 2002 we had a full five years in the school. It is a Maths and Computing Specialist College in September 2007. Since then we have delivered an enhanced and broadened range of resources within the school and also provided additional ICT equipment. We have used our status to raise standards across the school, using the Mathematics and ICT faculties as a catalyst to progress. We have established ourselves as a beacon of excellent practice amongst our peers, parents and the wider community. Personalising our students’ learning Our students’ enjoy more and learn more through our work in personalising the learning of students in Maths and ICT. We also use our evolving ICT systems to review other areas of the curriculum so we can improve them. We have set up a Virtual Learning Environment across the school curriculum. This serves to broaden the learning experience of staff and students. Students can access and download learning materials from anywhere; staff can monitor their progress and refine their learning experience

St Paul's Girl's School in Schools (Local Authority)

Brook Green, Hammersmith, London, W6 7BS

020 7605 4882

This independent school for girls between 11 and 18 years old grew from both the movement for women’s education of the late 19th century and the ambitions of the 16th century philanthropist John Colet, who was committed to the education of "the children of all nations and countries". The result is a socially inclusive community of 743 girls and more than 75 staff that fosters academic attainment and reflects the richness, diversity and aspirations of London itself. A St Paul's education isn't about passing exams. It's about stimulating intellectual curiosity, opening young minds to new ideas and preparing the girls for a future in which the pace of technological, professional and practical change will become faster and more challenging. Our international reputation for academic success is a consequence of this approach. More importantly, the confident, out-going young women who leave us have been equipped to make the most of the many opportunities that will come their way as the 21st century unfolds. Much of the joy of being at St Paul’s lies in the range and variety of experiences on offer outside the classroom, whether that’s socialising over our great choice of food or exploring personal interests and making new friends at any of more than 100 clubs and societies. We know that teenage life isn't always straightforward, so we also place great emphasis on the welfare of our girls, with a range of peer support schemes, adult advice and professional counselling. St Paul’s has an iconic place in women’s education – and not only because we achieve exceptional exam results. This independent school for girls between 11 and 18 years old grew from both the movement for women’s education of the late 19th century and the ambitions of the 16th century philanthropist John Colet, who was committed to the education of "the children of all nations and countries". The result is a socially inclusive community of 700 girls and more than 75 staff that fosters academic attainment and reflects the richness, diversity and aspirations of London itself
