Popeth Cymraeg use a distinctive method of teaching called Suggestopedia.
This is because it was reported to be a far more effective means of teaching languages than other methods. The school has run many Suggestopedic Welsh courses and the student response & achievement and comparisons with other methods support this.
Other methods basically aim to 'teach' certain predetermined elements of a language to students, either grammatical structures or language functions. Suggestopedia¹s main aim is to liberate students from internal mental blocks so that they can 'acquire' a language in a more open ended fashion the same way that young children do.
Just as some learners have grown into fluent speakers, the Centre's staff have increased their skills and expertise. In addition to our head office staff there are over 40 tutors who teach across NE Wales.
