Alzhiemers Society is an information service for professionals and others with an interest in dementia care and research.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life of people with dementia by encouraging learning and best practice. We welcome enquiries from health and social care professionals, researchers, trainers and students.
The DKC collection includes published information (print, and electronic resources) covering medical information, health care, social care, housing, design, therapies, novels, personal accounts and much more.Diagnosing dementia is often difficult, particularly in the early stages. The GP is the first person to consult. The GP may then refer the person being diagnosed to a specialist consultant.
Assessments can include conversations with the person being diagnosed and those close to them, a physical examination, memory tests and/or brain scans.
