For the provision of almshouses for poor persons of good character who are not less than 60 years of age and are protestants and who(except in special cases approved by the commisioners)have resided for not less than one year next preceding the time of their appointment in the city of birmingham or within seven miles from the parish church of st.clement,nechells.
Our volunteers are well known for the thousands of hours they spend each year ensuring public events are safe. We're also the leading first aid training provider in the UK and the third largest youth organisation. We've been providing first aid cover at major public events since Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Last year we trained 325,000 first aiders to cope with first aid emergencies both at work and in the home. We respond to all kinds of emergencies, from major emergencies to car accidents, weather incidents and fires. Our Community First Responder volunteers are trained to attend emergency calls received by the ambulance service and provide care until the ambulance arrives. We provide a range of patient transport services, transferring patients to a wide range of non-emergency medical appointments such as admissions to and discharge from hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and other medical facilities.
Support services include: prevention services; housing aid and advice; family mediation and mediators; peer educators; key workers, learning skills and work; advice and guidance on education employment and training; resettlement and floating support. Once you are with us you will have access to all of the above as well as many opportunties for developing yourself through getting involved or organising activities and events and gaining valuable experience. Ultimately you will leave us and move on with your life in a planned and successful way and be able maintain your own tenancy or private accommodation.
